Types of disease:

Disease is an umbrella term that includes diseases or medical conditions that affect a person's health. The disease can be caused by some factors, including infections, genetic disorders, and environmental exposures. There are many different diseases with different characteristics, causes and treatments. Disease types are often divided into two main categories: infectious and non infectious.

A communicable disease is a disease that can be transmitted or from one person to another through infectious agents such as bacteria or viruses. Common examples of infectious diseases include influenza, tuberculosis, HIV AIDS, smallpox, and measles. The disease is spread through contact with an infected person or items that carry the virus, such as contaminated food and water. Vaccination is often the best protection against infectious diseases, but medication can be used to manage symptoms and reduce the risk of transmission to others.

Non communicable diseases, but, are not spread from one person to another, but are caused by environmental factors such as air pollution, poor diet and smoking. This includes several diseases such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer and chronic respiratory disease. Non-communicable diseases are usually more chronic and may must a long term treatment plan to manage the condition. Prevention of non-communicable diseases is also important and can include lifestyle changes such as reducing smoking and eating a balanced diet.

The two main categories do not cover all types of diseases. There are also various rare and emerging conditions that can affect a person's health. These include rare genetic disorders and some deadly viruses such as malaria, Ebola and Sika. It can be transmitted like an infectious disease and requires medical attention to treat.

Immunizations, lifestyle and diet changes, and visits to healthcare facilities for regular check ups can help identify the condition early and manage it .
